La Chatre is to the South of the Loire in the middle of France in the dept. of Indre. The region is also known as Berry.
Chateauroux is the nearest city about 36KM away where you can get a train from Paris Austerlizt, it takes about 2 hrs.
Nearest Airports where you can fly from England are Limoges, Poitiers & Paris.
It is approx. 3hrs drive from Paris & 7 hours drive from Cherbourg & Calais.
Directions by road from Calais
From Calais take the A26 towards Bethune then take the A1 towards Paris. You go through a toll (peage) at the start of the A1 & have to take a ticket. You pay just before Paris.
Continue on the A1 passing Charles de Gaulle airport then take the A3 towards the centre of Paris. You must follow signs to Paris East, Bobigny & Bordeaux to get on to the Paris ring road, the peripherique, at Porte Bagnolet. This is just after CDG Airport. Follow signs to “peripherique sud” & drive in a clockwise direction as far as Porte d’Orleans.
Take this exit on to the A6B. Follow signs to Nantes & Bordeaux. Take A10 to Orleans, again there is a toll here. At Orleans get on to A71 towards Vierzon then A20 to Chateauroux. Both tolls come to about 30 Euros (£20).
Come off the A20 at J.12 & follow signs to La Chatre, you will pass through
Ardentes & Nohant.
As you approach La Chatre don’t follow signs to the town centre, instead continue to a set of traffic lights & go straight on passing a petrol Station on your right.
Take the next right turn, sign posted Briantes.
